Pros

- Decent benefits - Annual retreat - Opportunity to work with a few talented and supportive colleagues

Cons

- Lack of transparency in career advancement; promotions often appear based on tenure (though they’ll deny that) or favoritism rather than merit - Demanding workload with long hours and tight deadlines contributes to burnout and low morale - Consulting roles vs “Support” roles are hugely different when it comes down to performance review/raises/promotions/etc - Some higher ups lack in communications and camaraderie which can lead to poor yearly performance assessment and team building - Work can feel monotonous and uninspiring unless one has a strong personal interest in the industry - Management and HR are generally unresponsive to concerns, offering little support or resolution - Poor performers are often retained despite repeated issues, affecting team dynamics and accountability

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While it’s difficult to hear that your experience at Raftelis did not reflect the supportive and rewarding environment we strive to create, especially after more than eight years with the firm, we are sincerely grateful for your candor and your many contributions during your time with us. We never want any employee to feel undervalued, unsupported, or unheard. Your feedback is a powerful reminder of the importance of listening, learning, and continuously evolving as an organization. We take concerns around career path transparency, management engagement, workload, burnout, and the overall employee experience very seriously. In recent years, we’ve taken meaningful steps to invest and improve in these areas, and we recognize that this work is ongoing: Career Development: We’ve implemented comprehensive competency models across all practices and corporate functions. These models clearly define the skills and expectations for each role, providing employees with a transparent roadmap for growth and advancement. They also help ensure that promotions and compensation decisions are based on merit and contributions. Leadership Development: In spring 2025, we launched a supervisory training program in partnership with a respected external firm specializing in leadership and management development. This program focuses on building core supervisory skills, including effective feedback, coaching, and employee engagement. We’re committed to making this training a recurring investment in our leaders’ growth. Performance and Feedback Culture: We introduced a new performance management system that supports continuous feedback throughout the year, not just during annual performance appraisals. We’ve also increased communication and training around this system to encourage its use, especially during key periods such as the mid-year goal check-in process. We recognize the importance of upward feedback and are actively exploring additional ways to empower employees to share input with their managers and the broader leadership team. Equity and Fairness: We want to be unequivocal, retaliation of any kind is not tolerated at Raftelis, and we are deeply committed to pay equity across gender and race. We conduct regular compensation reviews to ensure internal equity and benchmark against external market data. Most recently, we launched a four-part total compensation series to increase transparency around our compensation philosophy, guidelines, and bonus opportunities. We know there is always room to grow. Your feedback reinforces the areas where we must continue to focus and improve. We are committed to building a workplace where every employee feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. Thank you again for your years of service and for sharing your perspective. We wish you continued success in your future endeavors.

Pros

Exe leadership is solid. Benefits and pay are great. Flexible PTO. Company retreats.

Cons

Individual practice leadership varies. I often feel that my immediate managers are struggling to fit into the company and are often too busy to provide me any support.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re glad to hear that you valued our company culture and the people you worked alongside — our team is truly what makes our work meaningful. We also appreciate your feedback on both the nature of the work and compensation. We recognize that some project work can feel repetitive, and we’re always exploring ways to diversify assignments and expand development opportunities across teams. Because our projects focus on supporting the public sector, compensation may differ from private-sector roles. However, this work also comes with meaningful benefits: stronger job stability, mission-driven work, and the opportunity to make a tangible impact in the local communities we serve. We regularly review market data and project structures to ensure we continue offering competitive compensation, growth opportunities, and diverse project experiences wherever possible. Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback.
