Pros

Large company. Ok pay. Great relocation package. 401k match instantly vests which is good.

Cons

Effectively a 2 tier culture - Chief Engineer/Fellows and everyone else is treated like a contract employee. If you are not a Chief or Fellow you are placed on/off programs on a task by task basis. Decisions are made by Chief Engineers without team input or discussion. Turnover is 10-11% annually. Opportunity for career advancement is minimal. Chief Engineer candidates are identified at around 30-35 years old and put in a program to let them become Chief Engineers. Fellows are chosen from long term employees and publications/patents from other companies are not considered. For this reason mid career hires are effectively not eligible for promotion to Chief or Fellow and are relegated to program hopping and anonymous tasking. Small raises (2-4%) at this time due to hiring too many engineers over the last 2 years and not enough work to go around. Full remote culture for most office employees, no desks or offices available. If you have to go into the plant, you will be random desk hopping each day hoping you can find one with a chair and monitors. You will also almost never meet any coworkers, since everyone is remote. This makes it much more like a remote contract position than actually being employed by a company.

Pros

9/80 and every 2nd Friday off, generous vacation time.

Cons

The company is 100+ years old and functions almost entirely on inertia. Senior Management is totally disconnected from the day to day, and it shows in the content of their "community" video meetings. They talk about diversity but have no interest in applying it. Most of the time they totally ignore the needs of their disabled employees.
