Pros

Career advancement - training - skill set diversification - sufficient income to support a family I worked for Kigo, a company of RealPage. I have nothing but positive things to say about the people within the Kigo organization specifically, top to bottom. The environment was high-energy, competitive but teamwork oriented, and Sales Training and Education was both directly and generally applicable in the careers of its beneficiaries. I recommend Kigo to any entry level Sales Professional, but be prepared to play the corporate game. As much as Kigo flexes is startup roots (seriously, the culture is fantastic), it's a RealPage company now, and that's what leads us to the Cons section.

Cons

Sales production more important than product - customer retention not a priority - commission department is inconsistent - promises often not upheld No matter how productive you are, how much you care about the success of the business, or how much heart and soul you pour into your role, your team and your legacy, you'll always be a small fish in the RealPage pond. It's not their fault - it's corporate. There's a board, there are shareholders, and there are numbers that simply have to be hit in the interest of stock price sustainability. This is not a unique story, but it's accurate. When you finally decide to depart, you'll do so respectfully, cordially, and with gratitude for the career advancement opportunities RP provided you during your time there because you're a professional. That said, just leave - they won't pay you for anything once they know you're out. For me, it was 2 weeks of apparently pro bono work for which I received no salary pay, and several sales for which no commission was paid. In retrospect I should have just taken a vacation.

Pros

Good engineering tooling. Talented engineers and teammates. Flexible remote work.

Cons

I ran one of RealPage's larger engineering product teams for three years, hiring and developing more than half of the engineering managers and engineers on my organization. I believed I was building something that mattered. Instead of promoting the person already doing the work, leadership hired a lateral engineering manager alongside me. Over time, responsibility stayed with me while authority and support shifted elsewhere. I became the person expected to absorb every problem. My first manager used me to fill every gap instead of developing me. I was expected to handle support, incident response, production releases, coding, architecture, project management, and people management—all at the same time. My second manager sidelined me, criticized me, and focused on replacing me instead of developing me. I was once told I was "lucky to be useful, or I wouldn't still be here." That statement summed up the culture. Leadership expected constant availability while frequently being unavailable themselves. When leadership was out, I was expected to cover. I spent over a year supporting both U.S. and India time zones, making true time off nearly impossible. RealPage has incredibly talented people, but talented employees cannot overcome a culture where managers are consumed instead of developed. I loved building teams. I just wish the company had valued the people who built them.
