Pros

After almost 4 years, what was feeling a little old and tired now feels like a new business due to a change of leadership. Whilst i had initial fears that the change would make the business a more strict, corporate experience, instead it has struck the perfect balance. It is still great fun with an amazing culture, but now moves with a greater sense of purpose and focus. On the career progression front, while it is unlikely that my next position will be in RedBalloon, i have been given great opportunities to grow and prepare for what i will do next.

Cons

While it is a great company to kickstart your career and grow, due to its size it offers more limited opportunities for promotion for someone who is already well established. Also while we are a business of great teams, the current premises makes it hard for us to work together, and forces an unhelpful artificial division in what really should act like one big team.

Cheers to that - grown ups are BORING!! Thanks for the feedback - it's testament to how individual we all are in our experiences of change. RedBalloon's all about balance, so thanks for calling that out. In fact I'm writing this from my local cafe on my work from home day - I can't imagine doing that working for a big strict corporate. Also, free WIFI! We agree that we might not be the end destination for more senior professionals - we view ourselves as a 'sea change' or 'stepping stone' company - we offer extraordinary opportunities for growth, learning and development, and fully support people when they decide to move on to their next role.
