Pros

At its best, RedEye can be a lucrative place to work! Its location next to Carnegie Hall and its proximity to Midtown/the rest of the Theatre District can make it a good spot to draw people in. Prices are on the higher side and they often accommodate larger parties/full restaurant buyouts, which can be great moneymaking opportunities. There's usually a good rapport amongst coworkers, and certain members of management are wonderful to work for. They take an invested interest in teaching servers information about the beverages/food, and most of the managers are hands-on in their efforts on the floor to help their staff succeed.

Cons

RedEye has gone through multiple shifts in management over the last year, which was somewhat detrimental to the restaurant's functionality and workplace environment. Sometimes management can be unhelpful or more interested in demonstrating their own authority, and there were definitely moments in the last year when previous management acted outright condescending towards their staff. As a server, you are sometimes overstaffed (which means less money for everyone), and there are times where business feels unusually and painfully slow. The system for scheduling and making cuts can sometimes be all over the place and lacks consistency, though they do try to be considerate for the most part. Sometimes it doesn't feel the most respectful of staff's time, even though you know there aren't any malevolent intentions behind their choices. One of the biggest issues we run into is regarding stocking. We are frequently running out of necessity type items (silverware, glassware, ramekins, etc), and then face heat for not providing quality service when we spend most of our time running around searching for said items. It can really throw a wrench in providing good service and just further complicates the job. The hours are long and it's a fair amount of running around, but that's pretty standard. The in-times for shifts can kind of cut through most of your day, which is unfortunate. Regarding fellow employees, most are nice to work with, but there are definitely some who don't pull their weight as much as others. There can be a real imbalance between side work getting accomplished, and that can be frustrating at times.
