Pros

* Good compensation (higher than most other companies) * Zero commute time (all-remote company)

Cons

* Higher turnover than average. People "disappear" and you don't know if they quit and left in disgust, or if they were fired. Especially concerning when people leave after 1-2 months. The VP of HR only lasted 7 months. Maybe the hiring process needs to be more rigorous to screen out the less competent, or maybe there were personality conflicts, but clearly some qualified people left because they didn't want to put up with the craziness. * The company "culture" seems to center on how to reach the ARR goal of tripling every year, rather than treating employees with respect and appreciation. Well, they do appreciate people who are willing to burn themselves out working nights and weekends. Work/Life Balance seems very unhealthy. They can use the hashtag #oneteam all they want, but it doesn't necessarily feel that way. * They still don't have clear job definitions, and I don't believe anyone has had a formal performance review (another pesky "process" that hasn't been implemented yet). The effort to come up with performance (actually, productivity) metrics has been kind of laughable - very focussed on quantifying contributions in mathematical terms (analogous to evaluating a software engineer based on lines of code - meaningless when you consider that elegant code doesn't require too many lines). * In certain groups, diversity of thought is definitely not encouraged. The CEO is involved in everything, and has difficulty letting go and trusting the people he hired, even though they have expertise in areas where he doesn't. * Probably the worst health insurance I've ever had. Apparently, small companies like Redpanda aren't offered better insurance coverage from the big name carriers. Although if you like Kaiser, I heard it's not too bad.

Pros

Leaders who genuinely care - Alex is an amazing CEO, truly - teammates who bring their best, good benefits, above-market pay, great work-life balance, remote work, and overall very positive culture.

Cons

Almost none, besides a few mediocre middle managers.
