Pros

Management is not afraid to throw money at a problem.

Cons

The Technology Department is demoralized and fearful, employees are forced to agree with CIO even when they are deeply uncomfortable, just to get out of his office. Employees and Managers discuss ways to avoid him regularly inside the office and when not on Regency property. I did not use the term "on non-working hours" because to the CIO there are not any non-working hours, he will not hesitate to repeatedly call any time of any day. (Religious Holiday, Funeral, when on PTO tending to sick family, etc.) He will call over 15 times if he has nothing better to do, he incorrectly refers to this tactic as "War Dialing" (an actual technical attack, but he wouldn't know that), and will resort to harassing friends and family of the employee to get in touch with them for non-critical issues. Human Resources has no power to stop this man due to his relationship with CEO, RUN AWAY! Will actively engage in micro-management of every employee starting with Vice Presidents and ending at Help Desk Interns. We have gotten to the point of 'faking' doing the work in front of him, eventually he will go find another target, so we can do the work the correct way without him hovering over our shoulders. On a normal day the CIO will: Constantly (every sentence if he can fit it in) uses profanity and vulgarity. He makes employees say things exactly how he has said them so that he is satisfied they understand, without regard to the language being used and the obvious discomfort of employee. (people should not have to cry at work on a regular basis) Uses racially insensitive and sexist movie clips and phrases to illustrate basic concepts. (ex. Little Rascals, Gung Ho, The Dirty Dozen) Intimidates, threatens ( ex. "...or you will be looking for another job") and verbally abuses staff to get employees to complete assignments HIS way. -forcing people to stay at the office and work on tasks and will not allow them to leave until it's done according to him -forcing people to attending meetings for days, has no respect for family obligations (picking children up from school, doctors appointments, etc.) -screams at people for not doing things HIS way regardless if they are done correctly or not. -will berate or attempt to humiliate people in front of other coworkers for minor mistakes or miscommunications -if an employee has factual information he doesn't like, he will get louder and continue to talk over them until they no longer want to participate in the conversation. (ex. Yelling someones name over and over and over again until they stop talking) He regularly believes he is the master of all jobs and skills, routinely telling employees he has done their job for years and knows best practices. That's right, this AMAZING ONE OF A KIND GENIUS is a master of Network Engineering, System Administration, Cloud Computing, Hardware Support, PC Repair, Software Support, Computer Programming, Automation, Project Management, Database Administration, Encryption, Intrusion Detection, and the list goes on...

Pros

Good structure and business sense. Good technology systems.

Cons

NOT PEOPLE ORIENTED - only bottom-line, harsh rough-housing culture, disconnected and rigid corporate leadership, DOES NOT RESPECT BOUNDARIES, NO WORK-LIFE-BALANCE, no clear policies or procedures (advantage for employer), says it's policy when there isn't a written policy, they make it up as they go. I just roll my eyes when I see their recent slogan of, "Be Part of More." They expect their employees to give 150%, with fewer resources, staff - who cares about the consequences for the employee - and then have the gall to ask us to "be part of more??!!" Gah!
