Pros
Used to be good 5-10 years ago. Managers were human, scientists tried to develop their direct reports. Better work-life balance. Enough food in parties. You actually used to feel proud of being different from other pharma/biotech.
Cons
When the company started growing, it attracted all sorts of competitive, egotistical sociopaths. Teams don't care about working together. The only collaboration now is humiliating or belittling a common target. Parties are a joke because the lines are long for a piece of food. Reminds me of underfunded college events where you'd wait forever for a cheap stuffed animal. Even worse, some people think they deserve better than others. On ice cream Thursday, this middle manager was loudly complaining about too many people "standing around" the ice cream truck while waiting for his order. Chill bro, it's free ice cream-- I'm sure they pay you enough. Good people left a while ago. Take a look around you, most people were hired recently. The ones left are either desperate (ie me) and the jerk(s) of the OG group.
