Pros

The people at Reiss are what makes it such a great place to work, from the receptionist to the owner and everyone in between. We genuinely care about each other, inside AND outside of the office. Over my ten years with Reiss, there have been a few ups and downs, but that is typical for any company, and Reiss has always acted quickly to implement any needed improvements. Bad apples rarely last very long here, and you can tell that the managers and leaders of the firm really care. Staff are often included in discussions relative to how the company works, and are included in big decisions that directly affect them. The benefits package is great - 100% company-paid health/vision/dental, paid holidays and time off, matching IRA simple pension plan, annual raises and bonuses with performance, flexible work schedules and much more. They also cover staff membership costs and provide tuition reimbursement to those still working on their advanced degrees. My favorite benefit though is the Fun Committee. The Fun Committee plans monthly and annual fun events for the staff to participate in at no cost. We've done 5K's, held pot-luck luncheons, gone to Drive Shack and WhirlyBall, and other fun events that give staff the opportunity to hang out and relax together. The people at Reiss don't feel like co-workers - they feel like family!

Cons

Reiss mainly serves clients in Florida, with a few exceptions, so those looking to work on projects nationally or internationally may not be satisfied with Reiss' projects.

Pros

Great people that are knowledgeable and experts in water and wastewater treatment and master planning, they stay on the cutting edge of design for a smaller firm, you're not just a number to them, fun and engaging work, freedom to win work with full company support, good business savvy, quick to respond to recommended changes and input from all staff levels. The owner is a phenomenal person (he is my role model) and actively engaged with clients and staff which is a rare find. Plan to stay in touch with the good people at Reiss for many years to come. They now have 10 owners and look to be expanding their owner base which is a great step towards a long term healthy firm that will stay privately owned and benefit the staff and have a direct impact on loyalty to the firm. Oh and excellent pay and bonuses, they definitely show respect to employees, and it is everyone at all levels so the profits are shared very well and the hard work is rewarded.

Cons

Consulting engineering requires some long hours to meet deadlines and keep clients happy but Reiss definitely tried to maintain and cultivate a good work life balance as much as as possible. They had a well organized structure to try to balance the demands of consulting.
