Decent work-life balance but lacks growth opportunities - Senior Software Engineer RentSpree Employee Review

Pros

Good work life balance. Company is experimenting with AI more than the rest of the industry (low bar). Company has a decent moat that will last for a few years at least, not under crazy cost pressure like a lot of other startups. If you are looking for decent compensation and a less fast paced engineering job, this is a good match.

Cons

Executives are ambitious but lack a product vision that can deliver the growth an IPO takes. They can't blame their product vision, so expect wild swings in projects, roadmap turnover and treating employees like children who don't have a work ethic. In engineering specifically, there is no growth path for U.S. based engineers. The senior Thai engineering leadership will not engage with the U.S. side and the U.S. side is not thought of as performing well in general. There has been no promotions on the U.S. side and strong turnover.

Pros

My experience at RentSpree so far has been great. I truly appreciate the strong sense of teamwork, inclusivity, and the genuine care the company shows for its employees. Leadership is open to ideas and takes the time to listen, which makes a meaningful difference. They also make a consistent effort to keep us engaged and well informed about what’s happening within the company.

Cons

I haven’t encountered any major challenges yet, but I’m continuing to learn more about the company.

Pros

The people here are genuinely the highlight. Everyone you work with is sharp, motivated, and kind — the kind of colleagues who will roll up their sleeves to help you without being asked. There's a real sense of shared ambition across the company; people care deeply about the mission and push each other to do their best work. Leadership is accessible, and there's a strong culture of transparency. For anyone who wants to grow quickly and be surrounded by high-caliber teammates, this is a great place to be.

Cons

Like most fast-growing startups, there is a lot of change as the company hones in on the biggest priorities to drive growth. But I've found that change is communicated transparently and leadership cares about getting buy-in from the team. the pace can be intense and priorities sometimes shift quickly. Those who thrive here tend to be comfortable with ambiguity and change, which isn't for everyone.
