Pros

While the researchers below the admin level are mission-oriented and brilliant, their efforts are constantly undermined.

Cons

This workplace suffers from incompetent and insecure leadership. Top-level staff engage in relentless micromanagement to justify their roles. There is no HR department, professional development, or clear structure for promotions or raises. Researchers are overworked, burdened with administrative tasks, and lack support. The chaotic workload and high turnover, especially among staff of color, create a toxic environment. Management consistently disregards staff input and overspends on consultants and luxury offices, claiming inability to pay staff fairly. The company's commitment to social justice and racial equity is not reflected in its practices, which are dominated by inequitable, white-led approaches. Employees are shuffled between multiple roles with no clear hierarchy, leading to burnout. Leadership attempts to spin high turnover as positive, ignoring the deeper dysfunction that drives staff away. This is not a healthy or supportive work environment.
