Pros

Passionate coworkers who are all there wanting to help the refugee population.

Cons

Poor management: micromanagement from upper management, carrot and stick style management, Broken promises: no kids on campus, no follow-through on hiring negotiations, no bonuses, little to no adequate supplies, no reimbursement for anything at all. No opportunity for growth Insufficient salary and PTO based on job demands Poor work/life balance Federal Holidays are not given off (Christmas, Thanksgiving etc.)

Pros

Corporate staff work very well together and are always willing to help when needed. Executive Leadership is very approachable, which is not the case for many large companies. As RD has grown in size, their leadership teams have also grown in technical skill and interpersonal communications.

Cons

Patience is a virtue. Things are slow to start at times, but pick up quickly.

Pros

October 2024: I'm really enjoying the students and other staff, the over-300-acre campus is beautiful (with a lake, wooded areas, deer, black squirrels, cranes, etc.), and I'm finally learning Spanish like I've wanted to do for years. There are tons of cool people here to practice Spanish with! I've set up a Music Corner in my English as a Second Language classroom, and the students look forward to spending the last few minutes of each class playing around on the electronic piano keyboard, the electronic drum set, or one of the wooden percussion instruments, ukeleles, or guitars that I have set out for them. I take two little walks per day to stretch my legs and enjoy nature, and I often get good ideas for lessons while I'm on my walks. You can eat your lunch out by the lake if you want a beautiful spot to relax for half an hour in the middle of your day. I really can't stress enough how happy I am with the beautiful location; it makes a big difference in my mental health to be surrounded by nature at work. I am having a positive experience here at Responsive Deployment. The benefits are good, I feel that I have stability, and my salary allows me to live in a nice two-bedroom apartment in Jackson and only have a 20-minute drive to work each morning. I love my schedule as a teacher: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday! It is the ideal schedule for my life. In addition, I get to teach the curriculum and lessons that I want to teach; I do not have to follow someone else's set curriculum. That freedom is great to have. I definitely recommend teaching at Responsive Deployment for the setting, benefits, stability, salary, schedule, and freedom to teach what you want.

Cons

I didn't have all of the details about my benefits until after I had signed on.
