Pros

Free products, some really nice colleagues, office in Piccadilly Circus

Cons

During my interview process and the first month into my role (Senior level) I was made to believe that there was so much potential and creative opportunities in it. I was joining at a time where the company was going through major changes, rebrands etc so I believed that as my job description was stating I would be involved in a lot of these decisions, be part of the creative direction of most of these as a Senior, and that I would bring a fresh eye to everything. This was what I was asked initially. Also, on my first interview it was stated that I needed to be in the office once a week (I live outside of London) and on the second interview they informed me that this was actually twice per week. My experience started really positive but that lasted 1.5 month. At around 1.5 months in the role, the company announced that from the previous hybrid policy of 1-2 days per week, they are changing to a mandatory 3 days per week for everyone. Then my manager gathered the teams negative feedback on this as asked for a review of that only for the upper management to come back with a rolling rota of these 3 days per week!!!!! Thankfully I formally applied for my days to remain as they were and it was approved. However 2 weeks after the policy changed, I get a call from HR and my manager that there is restructuring happening in the company, that affects my team but not me. I was asked to not be included in the anouncement meeting, I was given very broad information and from there the mood in the team changed drastically. We were all afraid of our positions but I could not really speak to anyone else because there was secrecy. The company claims transparency but NOONE acknowledged this restructuring, so many people made redundant and noone said how sorry they were. In terms of my role, I was made to believe that I was not good enough, constantly. Anytime I took initiative I was shut down, any fresh ideas were "not on brand" and when they were on brand they were @too similar to what the brand looks like and I was expected to bring fresh ideas! As a Senior Designer, I never made a single creative decision, projects were taken from my hands by my manager and product developers were making decisions on design instead of me. I was told that I would lead certain brands in the company and every time I was suggesting something, someone else was actually making a decision on it. Lastly, I was told that I was very slow in terms of learning the brands (never been told that before) and that usually an initial design is almost perfect the first or the second time the rest of the team is presenting it (everyone over 3 years in the company and I was told that 2 months in). However everyone else in my team told me that this is not true and almost all of the design files had version 29 saved in the system.

Pros

US team operated efficiently and worked together closely and effectively. Small team but cohesive and aligned, and just generally great team with great people.

Cons

UK office was a mess - exec management did not seem to be aligned, and therefore organizationally focused on the wrong things, ultimately setting all up to fail (globally). Financial acumen does not exist in C-Suite, driving poor objectives for all levels of the organization and ultimately leading to (more than one) downfall, with many people's jobs as the fall out.
