Pros

Reworld has excellent benefits! The benefits to support your family's health and work life balance (for those on salary) is top notch. I could not have supported my family in certain scenarios without Reworld's excellent benefits, ability to accommodate, and understand that life happens. This is not across the fleet, but in my personal experience with local management. Flexibility to support family (while still getting your job done) is worth it's weight in gold. Another pro is that the work we do has genuine environmental benefits for sustainable waste solutions and the local community. The staff here care a lot about what they do day-to-day. It gives your job value and purpose in supporting those efforts. Reworld even supports volunteering on the clock for local community efforts/organizational events, which I love to do provided there is time.

Cons

It is a major corporation, so it is definitely a corporate atmosphere. There is a lot of time spent justifying everything to corporate as well as to clients (for client-owned facilities). This can be very frustrating especially during busy times where you are trying to get your job done, and done well. The jobs here can be intense in that way, where it seems like there is meeting after meeting where you justify and discuss, but not get anything actually accomplished. There is a major disconnect between corporate and facilities that can be very frustrating. For example, we are currently forced to use one vendor for branded items even though that vendor has shown poor performance and costs more than sourcing locally for branded items. And the only shirt color we can wear for events is black (terrible choice for hot days since most events are outdoors). No wiggle room here from corporate so far, but hoping this will change. You have to fight for what is right with your facility. Once you get through that, it isn't too bad. The cons listed above can be found at most corporate companies... Reworld overall is a great company to work for.

Thank you for your detailed review and for your dedication to helping the planet as an Environmental Specialist. We are delighted that our benefits and flexibility have significantly supported your work-life balance and family needs. It’s also wonderful to hear that you find deep value and purpose as part of your Reworld™ experience. Regarding your frustrations surrounding corporate operations, we understand and encourage the desire to be agile and move quickly; however, given the nature of what we do, we have a strong framework in place with detailed processes and protocols to ensure safety for all and that we are all moving forward in the same direction together. That said, employee feedback is important to help us improve, so we hope you will continue to submit your ideas to your supervisor, HR, and even our anonymous employee hotline (1-800-267-7115). Thank you in advance.

Pros

The shift supervisor role consists of busy days with a lot of varying priorities. You are responsible for emissions regulation, work permits, specialized permits, managing changing plant conditions, and administrative personnel requirements. This can be a high-octane role but has a more relaxed period on night shift and when outages aren't occurring (planned shutdowns for maintenance). Expect to drive plant performance and employee development. Many opportunities for professional and personal development if you put the time in.

Cons

The plant culture will play a huge role in your quality of life, since most of your time will be at the plant. This can be good or bad. Quite a few managers do not engage or develop personnel due to various qualities. You will have to do the leg work in fostering a change for personnel development.
