Pros

I have been working at Rex for over three years. Have seen lots happen in the company. I have witnessed the company grow from strength to strength. Great office – one of the best offices in the heart of Brisbane - Fortitude Valley. Lots of social events. The company is leading a software developer in it’s fields. Both the CEO and CTO try to seek talent from all over the world. However, I have also seen them employ people without any required skills, education or level of expertise because they have seen potential in them, and they grow them from a seed up. If and when people move along with their lives and leave Rex after being coached by the CEO and CTO, who put their heart and soul into sharing their knowledge and experience with their employees and pushing them to the limit to perform to their best, they usually have a position in another place of employment they have not dreamed of because all of the skills they gained at Rex. Pros • Great office • Lots of social activities • Free study allowances – they will pay you to improve your skills • Free food and snacks • They will take you to overseas conferences and will pay for it

Cons

• Parking is a problem – hard to find free car parking

Pros

I found the role very satisfying. The team were all lovely, bar one. Lots of snacks in the office.

Cons

I worked under the CSM, and although it was joked about in the office that she has somewhat of a 'strict teacher' energy, my experience (which led to my dismissal) wasn't so much of a joke. I was put under a probationary review after some points were raised about my conduct (including taking time to attend medical appointments, for which I provided doctors notes and as much notice as possible). Since this review I was required to provide a minute by minute account of my day, which was held under scrutiny the following morning. No positive feedback, no progression plan, just passive aggressive comments if I were to make a mistake - which people do sometimes. This eventually led to a meeting which was organised 24 hours ahead of time, with HR in attendance - where I was told my performance wasn't meeting expectation. No clear expectations were set. One weeks pay in lieu, and dismissal effective immediately. I've been made to feel like not only was I bad at the job, which I don't believe was the case, but like I'd done something wrong. I was dismissed on a WFH day, away from my colleagues. All my accesses to my email or slack or other software was removed by the time I'd clicked off the meeting. No handover, no notice. There was zero compassion, understanding nor discussion from my boss throughout this process, and everything was said with a wry smile on her face. Honestly the worst experience I've had with a manager. Also there's no pool table at the new office.
