Pros
As an instructor I was expected to teach an introductory class of around 300 students. The students at Rice tend to be very motivated and are generally interested in doing well in the class, which makes the job a lot easier.
Cons
There are no tenure track teaching-only positions, so the instructor position is only temporary and if you want to pursue a career in teaching you know you must eventually switch jobs.
