Pros
The illusion that was created about working for this "professional services firm" was thorough and well conceived. Once involved in the organization it was utterly amazing how 180 degrees my experience was from what I was told during the heavy recruiting process.
Cons
I've been involved in professional services for 30 years including many with the largest such firm in the world. Never has my intelligence, common sense and experience base ever been so insulted. Granted, I was new to the firm but not to consulting, client interactions and developing new relationships/business. Within my first few days I had "colleagues" wanting to read/review emails, letters, etc. I mean, I'm well educated with an MBA and seasoned in what I do. I was dumbfounded. Further to that, the territorialism I experienced, total lack of teaming, absolute need to control and manipulate was just astonishing. I was not in place two months before I entertained calls from a recruiting firm in order to find an escape. It was sad as I do think Right Management offers some great services but all that is offset with the internal egos, daily watch of the bottom line, and enabling certain people to make other's business life miserable. My sources tell me the organization is still in a state of disarray as they've had several "reorgs" since I was fortunate enought to be able to "blow the popstand" and that was not that long ago.
