Pros

They were very kind and accommodating. It was a great learning experience, and I was able to work on various projects in different sectors of Civil Engineering from Traffic Engineering to Structural Engineering. Even as an intern I felt very included in the company, like a member of the team.

Cons

The Structural department is very small and mainly does small structure inspection reports. Due to a lack of communication many reports had to be rewritten multiple times.

Pros

The owners of the firm are nice. It's a shame they let others run the firm.

Cons

I took this job and Im leaving when I get my PE. They dont hire enough people so we pick up the slack working to many hours, im never home. the biggest problem is management. they dont delegate the work fairly enough. You get niched into a corner - either traffic or structural. I dont get a chance to ever work on other projects so I dont even feel comfortable applying to other jobs. The pay is also really slow to increase. Our bonuses are barely 3% a year at least mine is. Other than that the work culture is freaking horrible. Racist jokes are made by upper management.. religious jokes are made in the office like it's hysterical but no one laughs along. its unimaginable that this goes on. Ive also noticed over the years that upper management lies based on who you are. If you have a family, you will be told "family comes first, dont worry about the office, we value your family" But to me, who has no children, I get told "those other engineers use their children as an excuse to leave work early and dont commit to their careers". There is no HR department to report things to. Even if it did, its upper management whose doing this. the only choice is to leave the firm since i dont agree with the way things are run.
