Pros

It's worth pointing out that all previous reviews are based on "old" RoBAT. Recently the company has been acquired by a larger corporation which has involved some personnel changes and slight operational changes. The work is interesting and varied. There is freedom to get involved in things outside of your individual role. Hard work is recognised. Colleagues are keen to keep a good social vibe. There is A LOT of work, meaning no thumb-twiddling what-so-ever. MD is very approachable, open-door policy and provides support as needed. It's a close-knit team who appreciate hard-work. Half-day Friday is a great perk. Suggestions/contributions are listened to but often a balance between innovation and familiarity is required. Often get to see the fruits of your labour quickly. Working is somewhat flexible around outside work factors. Annual leave almost never denied. Generally things are massively improved and are incrementally improving as time goes on.

Cons

Aforementioned workload - there is A LOT going on and sometimes things get chaotic. The constant scrabbling to get jobs done to meet very tight deadlines means rarely is the best job done. Sometimes opinions are swung around rather than methodical discussion to come to a solution. Sometimes focus on what's actually important can be lost during discussions. Constant requirement for processes to be improved/streamlined but no time to do it!

Pros

Interesting work with plenty of foreign travel. Some good people there too.

Cons

Some senior staff close to MD are backstabbers. MD manages using telepathy. You need to be able to read his mind to work out HIS priorities (not necessarily the correct priorities!) He cannot communicate other than to berate you for something you didn't realise he wanted you to do. MD has many good qualities - foresight, drive, hard-working. He is a great business builder. He just really, really sucks at managing people - especially technical people. This creates stress. Mountains of stress! I was there for some years. I floated out of the company when I was let go. Stress of working there had given me alopecia. Took two years to recover. I knew I was being replaced, my job not being made redundant as they claimed. Could have sued for unfair dismissal, but didn't want to harm the company or former colleagues by hitting company financially. Looking back, I wish I had.
