Pros
The one and only pro of this job is that they would let employees loose in a small room and fight for cheap products in regular 'sample sales', where you could get Robert Dyas products very cheap.
Cons
Got off to a bad start when upon acceptance of the permanent position I had applied and interviewed for, it was suddenly turned into a 3 month contract. I took a gamble and went for it anyway, which turned out to be a huge mistake. The shabby old office is running out of space so I could not sit with, meet or bond with my team, I was placed in an entirely separate office and would shuffle desks every few days to find a seat where someone was away so I could borrow their desk. The parking here is also atrocious, also no lunch room or anywhere to sit and bond with colleagues, I often saw people sitting and eating lunch in their car. After a month I was given a letter stating I would be getting a 2% payrise as the company was doing well, this was a company wide thing at HO for all 'qualifying' employees. When I got my payslip I asked HR what happened to my payrise and they said "Oops we didn't mean to send you that letter". No apology, no explanation. With the exception of about two, I found the people to be wholly unfriendly. No one made an effort to get to know me or ask my name, let alone give me a little smile back while I'd hold the door open for them. After two months it is announced to the company that they are relocating office from Leatherhead to Wimbledon. There is no incentive for this, no parking there, no extra pay for anyone who is having to travel so much further each day, total slap in the face to their loyal employees. This company has a terrible reputation and comes across as a revolving door of people constantly coming and going, My advice to anyone looking to start a job there - just don't!
