Pros

You get to work with some of the top talent in the industry. Everyone is extremely friendly and happy to work with you to get the best results. The culture has evolved over time and is very inclusive and you can tell that the company really care about their staff. This wasn't always the case in early years but it's clear now that the desire to retain staff and help them grow in their roles is genuine. Having worked at other studios, none can hold a candle to R* and I wouldn't work anywhere else now. There are people here who've worked with the company for 20+ years and it's telling that staff turnover is relatively low - most who join tend to stay long term. The benefits and salary packages are excellent and any overtime is optional and compensated in end of year bonuses. Work parties are also very fun and we get gifts throughout the year too. There's free breakfast, lunch and snacks and all drinks, including artisan coffee, are free as well. The studio also works very hard to cater for different dietary requirements and they really care about making sure the staff feel well looked after. When it comes to the work, every day feels like a challenge, but in all the right ways. Every idea is valued and instead of being told "there's no resources" you're told "if you want to give it a try, go for it"; being ambitious and trying to push the limits of your discipline is encouraged and supported. There's a strong desire company wide to make the best games in the business, so everyone is really passionate but in a positive, non-toxic way. The company had issues with toxic leadership in the past but has worked very hard to stamp this out and any hint of it now, action is taken very quickly. Management today work closely with the teams and are very good at taking on feedback. Not only that, but even those at the very top of the company take time to respond to emails from staff and there's no hint of an ego, just a desire to create the best games and support everyone in doing it.

Cons

I can't really think of any.

Pros

-The main pros of working here are there are many talented folks who are passionate about what they do. -Free lunch and work events were always pretty fun - A once in a lifetime opportunity to work on the biggest games of all time.

Cons

Rockstar takes advantage of the passionate people they have working for them. They use the brand as an excuse to not treat their employees with any dignity or respect. It's also worth mentioning that microagressions and misogyny is a bigger problem than what's being reported here. There were many times where I felt like my voice wasn't heard because of it. Leadership is also a the source of a lot of friction. Many of them are out of touch and let people who have worked their for a long time get away with abusing their direct reports and other lower on the totum pole colleagues. There are people who work here that have been reportedly for unprofessional behavior multiple times but don't receive any serious pushback from leadership. It's a very cliquey, fear based environment masked behind a fake sense of a forward thinking company. There's a lot of information withheld from people who are directly impacted by it, which eventually caused me to mistrust the company and leadership. I have mixed feelings because I enjoyed working on the games and there are many talent people who are being held back by a company that refuses to think differently.
