Pros

The first eight hours of a new job, your mind races like rush-hour commuters in Grand Central Station. You wonder if you’re saying too much or not saying enough. Did you make the right decision, or should you have waited to see what other opportunities crop up? Now, two years into my role at RooneyPartners, I can attest that my main thought each day is how lucky I am to be employed here. This is a place where each person — regardless of seniority or job function — is valued, respected, and supported. From bonding over bowling to out-of-the-box thinking at off-sites, the workplace relationships that are forged here extend past the four walls of the 9 to 5 — we all truly enjoy spending time with one another, and this camaraderie is felt by our clients. Our integrated agency works in complete symbiosis, with designers, strategists, media mavens, and the partners collaborating together, free of silos or hierarchy. The road I’ve been on here, from an associate to my current senior position, has been inlaid with so many proud moments and I look forward to continuing my journey at this top-tier communications firm.

Cons

I have nothing negative to report!

Pros

This internship gave me great insight into what working in PR and Media Relations looks like. Interns assist with real work, and are never asked to get coffee or anything like that. Work consists mostly of research, maintaining media lists, creating media clips, putting together briefing books and the likes. Everyone at the office was very kind. The President is very personable and always greeted each intern by name. I appreciated that! My direct supervisors were also very kind, helpful and always willing to answer any questions I had. Interns are invited to all office parties and even into some meetings.

Cons

This is a very very quite office environment and I had very little interaction with others throughout the workday. This was a con for me but may be a pro for others. The work I was assigned was a bit scattered, and did not track a specific campaign or client from beginning to end. I tended to have a lot of dead time between projects.
