Pros

The most incredible colleagues I've ever had the pleasure to work with.

Cons

After reassuring all global colleagues that no job losses would be made during the coronavirus pandemic, Rover.com fired 195 people on one pre-recorded video call. Access to slack and emails were removed as the words 'you have lost your job' were uttered, so you could not even wrap up projects and say goodbye to colleagues. To add salt to the wound? A press article about the redundancies went live 5 minutes later, before our redundancy letters were even received. This included 'heartfelt' quotes from the CEO, who we have not heard a word from. Subsequent company announcements explained to the employees who were not let go, that the business made the decision not to use its financial reserves to keep jobs, as this money is there for 'profit-driving activities'. Wow.

Rover.com Response

The past few weeks have been really tough for Rover, as we’ve had to say goodbye to team members who have been instrumental in building our platform and business. While we’re confident that we’ll emerge from these challenging times stronger than ever, our heart goes out to those who have been affected.

Pros

Great platform, profile covers all the important points

Cons

Very limited inbound requests, would have expected more in a high density area for dog ownership

Pros

Good work-life balance, collaborative engineering culture, dogs, two-sided marketplace is an interesting product to work on, forward-thinking about AI tools.

Cons

As the overwhelming market leader in the space (RIP Wag!), there is maybe some complacency.
