Pros

The work environment at the Royalty Solutions/Memory Lane Music Group offices is professional, welcoming, and hardworking. During my semester spent here, this company shows their constant attention to their clients and every day was a helpful learning experience for me. They provide interns with their own desks, computers, and office materials whilst working alongside the current employees, which I feel is very involving and inclusive. My supervisor, Michael, always provided me with meaningful projects that would grow my knowledge, and I appreciate that he never minded explaining or repeating instructions when I needed it as I have borderline/mild learning disorders. The location is in the heart of midtown Manhattan and is conveniently close to many modes of transportation. They provide free coffee, filtered water, and ceramic/glassware/utensils for beverage and lunch food needs. Plus, they offer a ton of flexibility for the interns’ schedules. Overall, a wonderful internship experience!

Cons

No stipend for travel or food, but this is unfortunately common for many college-credit-only internships in metropolitan areas like NYC

Pros

I learned a lot about mechanical licensing and supervisor is nice to talk to. I actually get to do hands-on work in the company so I feel very independent. There are lots of freedom in the company in the sense that we are not restricted in one office area. The schedule is negotiable and the work is not too much trouble but sufficient. Being able to work on the backend of TuneLicensing is a great opportunity to access HFA, ASCAP, and BMI and be familiarized with music researches and daily responsibilities of a music publisher.

Cons

The communication in the company is mostly through Slack, so there may be a lack of socializing with the members of the company. The work over the weeks become kind of consistent so there may be some boredom. However, there is always work to do so it feels good to be needed. There is a lot of seating in the office since there are lots of research and paper work to do.
