Pros

The management and those you work with on a daily basis are friendly with a relaxed work environment making focus easier and work overall an enjoyable experience. There are lots of opportunities to learn with the freedom to do pretty much anything if you can make a solid reason as to how it benefits the company. Weekly meetings help with this as you get feedback on your week's work as well as the ability to make suggestions if you find areas that could use improvement. The office location is near a Co-Op, Fish * Chips, Subway, and more. This is great as it provides a wide range of choices for lunch with a small kitchen in the office if you want to heat up some food or make yourself a cup of tea. There is also a tuck shop if you want a snack or something to eat that is overall great but could use some lunch options.

Cons

Sometimes the roadmaps set out can seem a little unrealistic with a very vague idea of when projects are actually completely creating a feeling of a never-ending cycle. This comes and goes and is often addressed in the weekly meetings. You have to be a fairly independent worker as the company isn't big enough for someone to be able to constantly help you or others. This isn't something I'd blame on the company as I'd expect people to work independently but it's something to keep in mind.

Pros

I've been with Rubixx for 3 years now and it has been extremely rewarding to be part of their early growth. When I started we hadn't shipped the Housing or Accounts products and so compensation was lower than other roles but the opportunities provided to Junior Developers was great. Now we've shipped products compensation is a lot better and competitive for all employees a year or two into their careers AND the brilliant opportunities are still available. If you're looking to start your career with a challenge that provides great learning potential this is the place to be. The team atmosphere has always been my favourite part of working for Rubixx, everyone is extremely friendly and looking to help out. Coming to work is a enjoy because of this helping to make work life balance very easy, something their flexible working policies help with too. The business has been growing rapidly over the last year with an expanded office on the way and new faces. This has helped keep everything feeling fresh and has come with better support for new developers as the team is a lot bigger so has more time to train newcomers.

Cons

There isn't much I am unhappy with working for Rubixx but perfection is impossible to attain. Flexible working is great but the WFH policy is very restrictive when compared to a lot of other software companies. Currently the team is limited to a max of 2 people WFH a day and you get one day a week. I'd like to see more days and less restriction here to bring it inline with more modern workplaces. I wasn't sure how to spin this but felt most would see it as a con so put it here, for Junior developers the starting pay is way below averages even excluding big cities but the flip side of this is the company takes chances on unproven talent and provides you with great support that has led to most seeing competitive pay within their first year. You might find better paying jobs for Junior roles but I don't think many would match the opportunities provided by Rubixx.
