Pros

For a PhD student, the TA work at Rutgers is not heavy so I can save a lot of time on my own research and study. Also the salary is comparatively higher than any other school I know in the New York area.

Cons

Also, for a PhD student, choosing a good advisor is an important key to the success in the graduate study. But the professors in Rutgers, especially in computer science department, are not sufficiently initiative and motivated. So, it's very hard for a PhD student to pursue a productive research experience here at Rutgers.

Pros

co-workers are super nice, friendly and collaborative. Good flexibility in work arrangements. My immediate boss is nice.

Cons

Morale is quite low, and turnover is high. We are losing good people and goals are not being met. Senior Leader tell us to do more with less, and do not want constructive feedback. They don't lead by example, taking elaborate trips instead of being present and supporting staff. Rules don't apply to them. So disappointing, not what you would expect from a public university.
