Pros
The company has potential with the new CEO, Eddie Lehner. The academy training program is a excellent program for new college graduates or individuals with a few years of work experience.
Cons
But they need to clean house with the "old boys school mentality". Eddie has a great vision and in some aspects it is being followed but there are too many of the old school mentality of a bully management style that are still on staff and that are continuing to get promoted while losing staff members that have the same vision that is supposed to be happening at Ryerson. The academy program is great but with the constant change of management has directly affected the outcome of the training program and the new manager has the sales experience to guide the training employees but he needs to let go of the micro management and old school mentality to embrace the support staff in place to let them do their jobs. Based on the past couple of months since the new manager has been in place some great support staff has left based on both his and the general managers management styles. Communication needs to greatly improve from middle management to support staff throughout the company. I am afraid that the academy program will suffer for the lack of management (Ryerson Academy/CSC) not able to see beyond their own faults and be able to make the changes to embrace the corporate initiatives and future of Ryerson.
