Pros
The weeks can be very chaotic, as they may be inspections, audits, new customers or even training happening at anytime making each week feel slightly different. The lads in the yard are the highlight lots of characters, and are all good spirited. They have can have a laugh and are hard working, but this is often used against them. Getting them to do over time on weekends. To do jobs that are only necessary because the managers haven’t made sure it was completed during the week. And once the day is done, it’s done.
Cons
The software used to do the job is honestly one of the worst I have ever seen. Even though the software is bespoke for SAICA. It’s use on the weighbridge it is a mess of: overly complicated menus, terrible (minesweeper-like) UI, constant delay and crashes, icons with no correlation to what it’s function and some parts of the PRISMA software still is in Spanish. One of the managers is well known for watching the CCTV outside of his working hours and watching employees. Even on weekends… And the other blatantly gets away with defrauding money from the company. One of whom sold around £1k in scrap metal, by selling the old shutters on the bailer building. He also allows his relatives to drop off waste on site, and asks employees not to input it on the system. The maintenance and repairs are considered a bother for the managers. As they would rather pay for a nearly 20 year old vehicle, be repaired for the 6th time in a year. Than fork out for a new vehicle, Saving money in the long run. This philosophy seems to be the running theme as much of the yard is in disrepair. The yard is also understaffed meaning that many of the employees have to cover the if someone is sick, or on holiday. Even if it is a different role.
