Pros

I am not joking when I say there are zero pros about this company.

Cons

There are too many cons to list but let me give you some info on the company. It should give you a good idea of what it is really like. Also, keep in mind that my review is for the San Jose branch only. If you pay attention, the majority of the positive reviews are from their Fullerton office and I know nothing about that branch other than they make it clear they think they are far superior than the people working in San Jose. I worked for SASCO back when I started in the industry. I didn't mind the company and I did well; had multiple promotions, was paid well, etc. I was also young and naïve. However, when the opportunity came around to work there again I thought I would give it a go. I needed a change. WHAT A MISTAKE!!! It was the LONGEST year of my professional career. If the fact that at least 20 people quit from the small SJ office in a years time doesn't create concern then maybe SASCO is a fit for you. I quit at almost exactly 1 year. By that time 20 people had quit before me from both the Electrical and Data departments. After I quit I was told by people I stayed in touch with that at least another 10 people quit. 30 people in 18 months?! That is BAD. There are two types of employee's there....people that have been there no more than two years or people that have been there 20+ years and don't know any better. It's not a secret amongst the employees that most people don't last more than two years and that is due to them hating it and wanting to leave; not due to SASCO trying to get rid of them. Management is exceptionally good at being daft in regard to how miserable their employee's are. It is literally dead quiet for the entire 8 hours you are there. People hardly even acknowledge one another in the hallways. So if you are looking for a place that has a fun atmosphere and that is friendly then this is NOT the place. If that is what you want then beeline it to any of their competitors in order to work for a company that takes their employee's wants and needs into consideration and goes out of their way to show their appreciation to their employee's...because SACO WILL NOT do that....you are a number and they proudly let every single person there know that they are replaceable. This has been their mantra even back when I first worked with them. They do a lot of things that shouldn't be done. For instance, if you are a salaried employee and you work at least 5 hours but need to go to the Dr.'s, etc. they charge you for your time you missed. If you don't know why that is an issue you need to read up on what employee's are entitled to in the State of California. Educate yourself; especially if you chose to work for them because they will cheat you every chance they can. You don't get any vacation or sick time (except for what the state forces them to give) your entire first year there if you don't negotiate it. After that you get a whole whopping one week. Meanwhile, all of their competitors in the area are giving their employee's at least two weeks PTO. Management talks smack about other manager's which is completely unprofessional; spreading rumors and comments that are completely defamatory. If I were the person that was being talked about in that way I would sue them for defamation. Plus, they send manager's from down South up to help take care of the SJ office and these guys are so far out of touch with how things are handled in Silicon Valley that they are more of a hindrance than a help. It's ridiculous. Oh and they are proud about telling you that if you can afford to take two weeks off then clearly they don't need you. The say all kinds of things similar to that in order to make you afraid to do certain things. If you work there your competitors will be attending employee appreciation parties, Holiday parties, ice cream socials, free gear, etc. while you will get a family picnic at Great America and a really poor excuse for a Holiday party in December....that none of the employee's ever want to go to. The reviews that say it's all about how hard you work? Those are either the people that have never worked elsewhere and don't realize they could be treated A LOT better at a different company or they are people that have been put up to it. That whole spiel is their typical propaganda so they can beat their employee's into being submissive and scared to leave. Plus, it's an easy way to excuse the poor reviews. Clearly if you hate it there you didn't work hard enough...blah, blah, blah. I highly recommend that if this review doesn't make you think twice about working there then please, PLEASE find some of the SASCO SJ employee's on another site and reach out to them (both past and present) and get an honest assessment of this place. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. And everyone else that I worked with that left says the exact same thing.

Owner/CEO is a PR nightmare and has some medical issues that he can take out on employees from time to time.
