Pros
I'm happy to say that working at SCS Engineers has been the best work experience of my life. It's employee owned, which seems to make for a really great culture where everyone values you and your input. Salaries may be a bit lower than others, but we are also given ESOP stock in the company, which has been valued at between 11.1% and 12.4% of our annual compensation over the last three years. The Madison office delivers Meals on Wheels every Friday. Anyone can volunteer to participate, which I love. The company also seems very open to fully remote workers, but also really values in-person events, so they encourage everyone to show up for business unit meetings and yearly parties to connect. Work hours are pretty flexible and people tend to have a very forward-looking and let's-get-things-done attitude.
Cons
My complaints are minimal. I wish the amount of paid time off was higher, but I think that's an issue with all consulting firms.
