Pros
The people are great to work with. Everyone believes in the company and works hard to make it succeed. Pay is decent, when they pay. There is a decent wall between sales and editorial, so the news is free and unbiased.
Cons
Freelancers are getting paid later and later, with reassurances that "first of the year" will be better, then "second quarter" will be better. Still waiting for things to get better.
The platform is finicky and changes are made without letting the people who use the thing every day know what's going on. I was encouraged when I first started to report any technical problems I might have, but once I started reporting them, it turned into a blame-game rather than working together to solve the problems. I had to spend 30 minutes to an hour filling out a detailed ticket for technical problems -- it became easier to troubleshoot the issue by myself first, then submit a ticket as a last resort. I ended up spending probably about 15-20% of my time there just troubleshooting technical issues. We weren't allowed to use the word "workaround," even though half the time we had to find workarounds because there weren't resources available to fix some of the issues that impacted our jobs. It was very frustrating.
