Everything else. This is going to be a long but honest review. If you are seriously considering applying here, please read this review before committing to anything. 1. Administration: they are aggressive, rude and micromanage you without ever stepping foot on your site or understanding the needs of the house or consumers. There might be a handful of supportive staff here and there but the majority are awful and rude. Admin has a rule about employee evaluations and supervisions "always rate them a little low so they have something to motivate them work harder for the company" I don't know about you but if my hard work is not being appreciated, I'm going to stop working hard, not work harder. 2. Consumers: yes, we work with people with SPMIs so we expect some level of behaviors in the work force. However SERV allows the residents to be violent towards not only staff but also other residents. I'm not just talking slaps, I am talking full blown assaults. There are residents who have assaulted multiple other residents with serious consequences who return back to the home within a few days. They also do nothing when Male residents make sexual comments towards female staff. Instead I've observed my coworkers being told to "be more modest" or "don't instigate". I've even observed a female teammate be told " yeah that's just part of the job". Harassment and violence should NEVER be a part of any job no matter the setting 3. Consequences: there are no consequences for anyone but staff. The residents never face consequences for breaking house rules (sobriety, violence, treatment requirements ect.) When someone adored by management does something wrong, they find a way to blame it on literally any other staff member, even if they had nothing to do with it. One time I was given a coaching notice for something that occurred when I wasn't even working. 4. Staffing: All industries are facing staffing shortages. I know that. But SERV is on another level. Even with a temp agency, everywhere is struggling. SERV is a revolving door. I've been here for 7?(i think 7) years, and that is extremely uncommon. Many employees quit after just a few months, and only a handful last past a year. Management should ask themselves why their turnover rate is so high. I have an answer for you. Management takes advantage of the staff they do have. Senior counselors are expected to cover every single open shift their site has (60+ hours of overtime is the norm for some of these counselors) and are expected to dedicate even their off days to SERV. They are expected not to have a life or family outside of the company. God forbid they ask for time off. They let staff "get stuck" on doubles all the time . 5. this is not a place that cares about you or the people they are supposed to be helping. They care about their pockets and that is IT. 6. Conditions: the houses and offices are not just outdated but rundown. cabinets falling off the hinges, paint and wallpaper peeling off walls. Couches made of wood planks with cushions ripped like crazy. toilets and sinks that clog, quick fixes only. Leaks in the ceilings and floors that grow mold (file a report about it and they will come and paint over it without fixing the leak). 7. Pay: the pay is garbage. You can make more money working at target. We are quite literally keeping people alive. Regina can take a pay cut so that the staff who deserve it, the staff on the ground with the residents every day, taking them to medical and psychiatric appointments, ensuring they are fed properly and maintaining hygiene, these are the staff who deserve significantly more pay. people in HR and upper management deserve significantly lower pay then they make.
