Pros
People strive to make a good product. Work focuses on issues important to Bay Area. Writers encouraged to have a voice. Not stuffy at all.
Cons
Lack of direction and inconsistent requests when I worked there. People said they wanted one thing, then got upset when you did that. Problems could be avoided or fixed with clear feedback. Kind of ironic that a media organization sucks at communicating. It might be better now. Pay is super low but that's typical for print media these days.
