Pros

I have been with SMA for several years, and while there are still some highly dedicated employees who genuinely care about their work and each other, I am increasingly concerned about the direction SMA is heading. The commitment of many employees remains strong, and it’s inspiring to work alongside such passionate individuals. There’s a sense of camaraderie among those who are still invested in the SMAs mission. Overall, while the dedication of my colleagues is commendable, I worry that without a change in management approach and a renewed focus on collaboration, SMA may struggle to retain its talented workforce. I hope to see improvements in the near future, as the potential for success is still there, but it requires a shift in priorities.

Cons

Unfortunately, the company culture is shifting towards a more siloed organization. Communication and collaboration are being stifled under the current managing director and his approach that seems to prioritize hierarchy over teamwork. The company has become too hierarchical, which can hinder decision-making and innovation. This shift has led to frustration and a sense of disconnect among employees.

Pros

SMA offers good benefits and a hybrid work schedule. If you're looking for just a job with a steady paycheck, these benefits are a worthy pro.

Cons

While the culture was once remarkable and unique, it has slowly eroded over the years with continual poor management decisions. Once upon a time, the people at SMA were valued as the true asset. Upper management knew the name of all the employees, people were looked at as individuals and there was a genuine investment in employee well-being. This is no longer the case. There is no coherence or cohesion to management, no sense of true leadership and the disconnect between upper management and lower tier roles grows more vast by the minute. Loyalty is not rewarded or valued, whether you’ve been here a year or ten years is of no consequence. Whether you perform your job well or poorly, it's all equated the same. Raises are negligible and not offered regularly, and upper mobility is severely limited.
