Pros

Hybrid schedule, flexibility, and decent benefits.

Cons

This has turned into the worst place I’ve ever worked, hands down. When I started here, it was a great environment. Collaborative, supportive, and actually enjoyable. That’s completely changed. Now it feels tense, stressful, and disconnected. Morale is in the gutter. A lot of us are burnt out, underpaid, and constantly being asked to do more with nothing in return. If you’re not in sales or management, it’s pretty clear you’re not a priority or valued. The company keeps hiring more directors and VPs, pouring money into “leadership,” while the people doing the actual work are stretched thin and ignored. It’s frustrating to be constantly asked to do more with no raise, no recognition, no additional support. Just more expectations. At some point, you have to ask, "why is all the investment going to the top when the foundation is crumbling?" The remote/hybrid policy is pretty inconsistent. Some people who live minutes from the office are allowed to work remotely, while others who live farther away are told to come in or risk their jobs. There are many people who drive in to work weekly even though they do not live close. It makes no sense. There’s also a serious lack of basic respect. Communication has gone downhill. People are on edge and defensive. You can’t ask a question without someone taking it the wrong way, and honestly, I get it. Everyone’s worn down, and the tone from the top doesn’t help. Even interactions with members at headquarters or "leaders" often come across cold or dismissive. That's just the tone of the place now. If you just need a paycheck and don’t care about how you’re treated, this place might be fine. But if you care about feeling respected, having a healthy work life balance, being valued, or keeping your mental health in one piece, I'd steer clear.

Pros

SMA offers good benefits and a hybrid work schedule. If you're looking for just a job with a steady paycheck, these benefits are a worthy pro.

Cons

While the culture was once remarkable and unique, it has slowly eroded over the years with continual poor management decisions. Once upon a time, the people at SMA were valued as the true asset. Upper management knew the name of all the employees, people were looked at as individuals and there was a genuine investment in employee well-being. This is no longer the case. There is no coherence or cohesion to management, no sense of true leadership and the disconnect between upper management and lower tier roles grows more vast by the minute. Loyalty is not rewarded or valued, whether you’ve been here a year or ten years is of no consequence. Whether you perform your job well or poorly, it's all equated the same. Raises are negligible and not offered regularly, and upper mobility is severely limited.
