Pros
Is very flexible as you can choose the days that you can work and you can mix with other jobs , you can meet some people that are nice , usually the new hires, the whole operation of embark and disembark it can be interesting , i used to work onboard previously to working on port so for me was interesting seeing the operation in the port , they bring food down some ships while you are doing check in usually msc they will give you pizza and soda as well as norwegian , the cheapeast cruise line that never gave nothing was disney they used to do some tacky pot lucks they forced people to bring their own food and participate
Its nice to talk to guest if you are in to that , but they can also be very rude
Cons
is an easy job , but there is no proper training for it , so you need to ask all the time to other co workers to teach stuff and sometimes they wont , all the supervisors are incompetent and they dont care about people as they have so much rotation of staff , they give very short breaks , you have to be on your feet for long periods of time , they lure you with promises of cruise discounts and is all phony it never happened , the mafia that is been working there for years and they think they are somewhat supervisors they want to boss you around , while they are working doing the same position as you and making same salary per hour, the salary is low but it reflects the tasks at the job is not a hard job to do, is just hard to deal with people that are not team players , they schedule sometimes can be extremely early in the morning , if you are not a morning person maybe this job is not for you, this is very greedy company all they care is charging big amounts to the cruise lines, to provide employees , while neglecting the staff
