Pros

Educational benefits are great for every program besides the MBA program where you're losing about half of some pay checks due to how taxes align. Most other programs are great for pursuing your masters making these level roles at SMU a great step in your career.

Cons

Most roles at these levels have massive turn over due to how little increase in pay they each receive each year. No work from home days/ flex schedule for working weekends which most departments require. This is especially frustrating as if you're salary there's no added benefit. Often times mid-level managers overtask duties/ don't communicate expectations clearly due to the lack of bandwidth not for the lack of trying.

Pros

Like the work I do and the people I work with. Activity fluctuates along the typical school calendar with the summer being slower.

Cons

You are expected to jump into change without asking questions. Even when a reason/justification on why or how you are doing something is met with a tone of "I don't care, Do what I said". Direct supervisor and colleagues are great and have your back. Many staff positions don't have a way to move up the career ladder.
