Pros
Very few talented and dedicated individuals that are keeping the company afloat. None in HR or Management.
Cons
Very high attrition rates as reflected in other reviews. Not only by staff but brokers too. *PR. Everything is purely PR, meaning a positive spin is applied to most news and in converse if you present a view to the contrary then you are purely being negative, similar to Donald Trump's view of the world. Any actual positive news is overhyped. *Transformation Programme. Recent transformation programme was/is an internal failure as senior project managers consistently lie about delivery often blaming technical teams yet none have worked on large technical projects previously, and this results in poor to non-existent technical project planning. The entire Senior Project Management team often mock technical approaches in projects plans and any due diligence. Why? it places the onus on them, with such an approach it's difficult to blame others for project slippages. Senior PM's are clearly under pressure to run projects "on-time", not deliver improvements. The business looks to consolidate its sites in Halifax and Aldershot. The office move in GSC India was to a tax-free jurisdiction. Poor investments into Datacenter infrastructure despite huge reputational damage due to datacenter outage in 2016 resulting in data loss. The datacenter that failed was recently again considered to be reinstated as a site due to cost-cutting measures across the business. It is nothing more than a server room rather than a Datacenter. *Management. Regarding the other negative reviews about under-qualified management; Internal promotions are reserved for those that will uphold the internal PR values and bend all legalities and serve as yes men to the middle or senior management or People are promoted into roles out of their capabilities so they remain as yes men and are not aware of the true status for their area of management. Teams are instantly displaced as a result and this is intentional. Absolutely repetitive in behaviour and has been witnessed over the years with the cycling of new middle management seems like tactics senior managers employ before trying to sell off the company to new investors. This is the theme that is being reflected in all the negative reviews on glass door for this company. Most long-standing employees and managers only partake in politics rather than work to survive the horrid, incestuous, and criminal culture as their skills and knowledge are outdated, due to being overworked and under-invested in training. "Directors" and "Head of" are like dictators with a veneer of democracy, they have side-kicks in the teams that everyone knows about to assist them in their quest for control. They do psychology manipulate, turn colleagues against you, propel lies about your character if you don't tow their political line or speak the truth or ask truthful questions that should result in a constructive debate. Which I experienced first hand. All external sites are monitored by "Managers" for negative reviews. I have seen pressure being applied from these managers to individuals to remove public posts that mention anything close to the truth that is damaging to SSP's reputation as the HR director is not happy with such occurrences. Finally, the majority of approx 300- 400 UK employees don't even state that they work at SSP despite some having active Linkedin profiles.
