In November 2023, I joined Sunseeker Power Equipment, Sunseeker US with great enthusiasm as their Director of Content Marketing , driven by a compelling opportunity to guide a traditional Chinese manufacturing company through its transformative journey toward establishing and selling its own brand internationally. However, my journey took an unexpected turn when I was abruptly let go on January 4th, 2024, without notice or severance—a situation that deeply challenged my understanding of fairness in the workplace. This led me to seek justice through the Labor Dispute Arbitration Committee. The trial on February 29th, 2024, was a pivotal moment, and the Committee, on March 12th, 2024, favored my demands, affirming my rights under Chinese Labor Law. This victory, however, marked not the end but the beginning of a new chapter in my quest for fairness. Despite the clear decision of the arbitration committee, Sunseeker has chosen to challenge this outcome in a higher court, seeking to overturn the verdict. This move, seemingly aimed at delaying the enforcement of the law and my rightful severance, highlights a stark reality many employees face: the lengths some companies will go to avoid fulfilling their legal and moral obligations. I share my story not to dwell on the past but to offer hope and guidance to anyone who might find themselves in a similar situation. It's a reminder that while the professional world can be unpredictable, there are laws and principles in place to protect us.
