Pros
In all the years I have worked in this industry, I have never worked with a firm that offered me more design diversity, project responsibility and flexibility. In the course of one day I can go from working on a multi-family housing project to a new high school to a performing arts complex - or to coming up with an exciting new way to reuse shipping containers! The strength of this firm is not only do they work in multiple different arenas but they offer great opportunities for responsibility and advancement due to their size and structure. Employees are encouraged to take charge but there are always senior staff members I can rely upon for advice and assistance. Because of their advanced REVIT platform expertise I have benefited from a technical point of view as well as from a creative one and I enjoy the casual, collaborative atmosphere
Cons
Because the firm is about 40 people at this time there is not a huge staff of people so you have to be able to take responsibility for not only creating your designs but documenting them as well. This might mean a longer day sometimes to meet a deadline or working an occasional weekend but the trade-off in having full control over your designs is worth it!
