Pros

Intelligent, experienced, and motivated consultants make for great co-workers, even when mostly at separate clients - discussions at branch events, or daily on Slack, tend to be high-quality and helpful. Pay is great relative to the market, and in most cases, consultants end up at interesting client projects. Management is focusing on emerging technologies, especially cloud (Azure) that has led to enjoyable engagements. Given relatively small size, employees receive fairly regular updates on the full state of the company, including business direction/benefits/clients. This has been especially useful as the relationship with the Minneapolis branch has become closer. Consulting manager model allows senior consultants to act as mentor/advocates for multiple consultants, allowing for feedback/advice on career development at whatever interval you prefer. The leadership team in general is very approachable.

Cons

No bench pay (only paid for billable hours), and there have at times been pipeline issues, meaning consultants sometimes leave during stretches when they haven't received work for a few weeks. Those pipeline issues have been a focus for management, though, and do seemed to have improved (plus, most people end up on longer contracts, for a year+, and don't really need to worry about any bench time). Not fantastic benefits (but great salary does help make up for that)

Pros

SafeNet has a great company culture and invests heavily in their employees. They'll help pay for continued education and training. They make sure you are happy where you are consulting at and work with the client to make sure you have everything you need. If at anytime you don't like the client you are working with they will work with you to get you in at new client. They are transparent as a company as a whole. Work life balance is fantastic. They are moving to an unlimited PTO model for the new year. Always looking at ways to leverage new tech. They expanded their sales force and markets to build out a pipeline. They are pushing to have a hire/work from anywhere model and value clients that are in line with that vision.

Cons

These are not major cons, just somethings to be aware of that maybe you haven't experienced yet. The pay schedule is currently once a month, I personally like that, but again, might not be for everyone. The benefits package is getting better, but does leave something to be desired depending on where you are in life, but they do a great job rounding it out with things like continued training/learning etc. If you are consulting at a client with no other safenet consultants, you can sometimes feel like you're on an island. Not typical but has happened, if a client terminates your contact you are on bench time. Again not something typical but that thought does loom once and awhile.

SafeNet Consulting Response

Your feedback is very much appreciated. At SafeNet Consulting we believe it’s crucial to invest in our employees and support your desire for ongoing education and achieving certifications. As a consultant you have a big responsibility to represent SafeNet while working for a client and you’re right, you may not always be part of a SafeNet client team. We understand this and want our consultants to feel a part of the larger SafeNet team. Each consultant has a consulting manager they can speak with at any time. We stay connected through phone or video conversations, in person meetings (excited to get back to this), company events, quarterly happy hours, hack a-thons, etc.
