Pros

Working at the branch libraries was a rewarding job, I enjoyed helping the public, am passionate about books and had a mostly great team of coworkers.

Cons

The job is lots of heavy lifting, constantly on your feet, dealing frontline with many people with social challenges (patrons who are dealing with addictions, homelessness, mental illnesses, sometimes violent). The reason I left was because the senior management underneath Waller McGuire, operated via threats and intimidation. They have very little emotional intelligence or compassion for their stressed out staff struggling to work around covid restrictions. As my take home pay amounted to less that $11 an hour, I left. Not worth it.
