Pros

If you have no soul and don't care about fellow humans good money half remote

Cons

Contradictions in rules and regulations Ever changing schedule no solid sleep schedule half days early 8-5 half days late shift noon-9 however this was subject to change at any moment with no consideration to employees first of the months became early shift regardless of shift you were on last day of the month as well Was told by managent I was "thinking too hard" and being"too informative to Borrowers and Cosigners" by informing them about how to request extra payments go towards principle This place puts profits Infront of borrowers and Cosigners in the worst way I lost my bonus I'm sorry "incentive" due to being covid positive and not having points to cover for it In higher buckets they require a 14 hour work day a month and no you can't refuse to move up if they nominate you to They claim "promote from within" but managent can't make as much as agents in highest bucket due to such high incentive potential they pigeon hole employees to just be collectors with the benefit to moving up is not being on the phones having to deal with heartbreaking stories most agents don't care about these borrowers and Cosigners and crack jokes over their struggles suggesting consolidation will get you in trouble for bad "customer experience" hope the FDIC shuts this awful place down Edit: after two days of my manager giving me the run around on suggestions for termination he informed me on calling MetLife for potential FMLA due to covid I realized this job mentally was breaking me and opted on quitting instead I will be forfeitting my pending incentive and looking for less toxic workplace

Pros

The biggest pros for me are the people and the opportunities for growth. The culture is very team-oriented, and there’s a genuine willingness to support one another and see each other succeed. I also appreciate that the company is open to trying new approaches and evolving how we work, which creates meaningful opportunities to learn, take on new challenges, and continue developing professionally.

Cons

One area for improvement would be system modernization, as updates and enhancements can be slow and sometimes create inefficiencies in day-to-day work. Additionally, communication across departments during issues or changes could be more consistent and timely to ensure teams are fully informed and able to respond effectively.

Pros

- I genuinely enjoy the people I work with, and that goes a long way. The culture feels supportive and respectful, not cutthroat. - The company regularly asks for feedback through “Pulse Check" surveys—and it doesn’t feel like they disappear into a black hole. - Strong focus on work-life balance with real resources to back it up. - Fun, engaging activities like desk holiday bay decorating, chili cook-offs, and the Sneaker Ball help break up the work routine. - Encourages professional growth with free LinkedIn Learning, support from department heads, and side-by-side learning opportunities. - Hybrid work is a plus. I remember when remote work was a pipe dream, so I don’t take that flexibility for granted. - Just hit my 3-year anniversary and got increased PTO—always a nice milestone. I plan to be here for the long haul. - Final thought: I’ve yet to find a perfect company, but I can honestly say Sallie Mae is close enough. I hate to sound like a marketing campaign, but a happy employee is just a happy employee—and that’s how I feel here.

Cons

- Like most places, it’s not perfect. Processes can always be improved, and some things move slower than you’d like. - Pay feels fair, not amazing—but not something I’m upset about either. I don’t know many jobs that pay “enough,” honestly. - If you’re looking for a flashy startup vibe, this might feel more steady than exciting.
