Performance metrics prioritize employees ability to persuade or annoy customers into purchasing more ITEMS. ITEMS PER TRANSACTION. It doesn't matter if I seel a single blow dryer worth $300 it looks better numbers wise for me to seel (3) $0.50 sponges. Each transaction you are required to ask a customer if they would like to purchase at least 3 other items. And every hour you must fill out a report on customer interaction and what items you have suggested. Sally's main priority is to get customers to buy MORE. Despite the fact that many customers come in looking for a specific product. I have to worry about my numbers falling low and being reprimanded with each customer interaction. Helping more customers on average hurts my number. I'm scared I'm going to take a hit to my numbers instead of focusing on helping the customer actually find what they need. And on top of this if you want to talk to higher ups or HR they will actively deny to giving you any contact information.
