Pros

Everyone at Artisan truly cares: about the company's mission to create positive change in the world of underground mining, about doing a great job and going above and beyond to ensure the company's success, and most importantly about each other. The entire staff is extremely dedicated and hard-working, focused on collaboration and teamwork. Working here means you get to wear a lot of hats and get things done, innovate, be creative, solve problems. There is very open and transparent communication in both directions, from employees to management and vice versa. I feel appreciated and supported as an individual. Upper management doesn't just say they care, I can tell they mean it. There is no office without politics, but from my perspective the office politics are as minimal as they can get. I am very happy to be a part of this organization.

Cons

Like in every other start-up company there are some growing pains and things the company can improve on, e. g. lack of processes and documentation, little standardized training during onboarding, etc. However, the leadership team actively seeks feedback from the employees on a regular basis and works on implementing more structure and improvements.

Pros

Work–life balance is actually respected. Most managers honor boundaries, don’t expect late-night firefighting as the norm, and are fine with you taking time off when you need it. Solid parental leave. The parental leave policy is extremely generous compared to a lot of places in the industry, and leadership is generally supportive of people actually using it. Interesting, challenging work. Plenty of chances to solve real problems, not just busywork. If you’re proactive, you can own projects and grow your skill set. Good benefits package. Healthcare, 401(k), and time off are competitive, and HR does a decent job of making the options clear. Smart coworkers who care. A lot of sharp people who genuinely want to do the right thing for customers and the business, which makes collaboration worthwhile when it works.

Cons

Communication needs improvement. Priorities and decisions don’t always flow clearly from leadership to the teams doing the work, which leads to confusion and rework. Too many silos. Teams tend to operate in their own lane, and cross-functional collaboration can be painful. Information gets stuck instead of shared.
