Pros

Large corporation IF you are lucky enough to get a good manager you could have a career here

Cons

Huge company with too many unqualified and overpaid chiefs. Large Corporation with little employee feedback taken into account You are a number only and you feel it every day Management from the top down lacks vision, training, and qualifications to manage Hours- required to work 2 nights to 8pm, and rotating Sats Team members are like management-young, childish and catty Call reviews are so subjective-depends on if they like you Management and co-workers will sabotage you if they do not like you Write ups and talks in conference rooms are the norm with additional managers (present to back up the manager when they don't even know your work). You cannot get out of a dept if on a write up because your manager doesn't like you even if you did nothing wrong Favorites win and get the promotions even if others are far more qualified Spanish speakers are preferred and it shows Managers openly talk negatively about and criticize others on the open floor Call reviews are a joke-you learn nothing from them-it's merely an activity to appease the shareholders Managers will bring the team members in to ask if a particular person is talking to them and what about-looking to gather information to use against them Changes are not communicated BEFORE the bad call reviews are given on said changes and if you challenge it-you never win anyway. They want you to be consistent but cannot do it themselves Reviews are a joke-just a required exercise because managers change the numbers and ratings to benefit themself Raises are given as dollar figure to the dept and gets divided based on ratings-not your merit.

Pros

Of all the companies I have worked for, Santander has had the strongest training program. The training was comprehensive, well-structured, and especially valuable for employees who are new to the banking industry. Additionally, Santander's ONE software is by far the most intuitive and user friendly banking platform I have used, making it easy to learn and navigate while supporting efficient daily operations.

Cons

Like most retail banking roles, there is a strong sales component. With fewer customers visiting branches due to online banking and ATMs, much of the day is spent making outbound calls to existing clients, trying to set appointments, and push products and services. While I understand the importance of sales in the industry, I personally felt there was significant pressure to prioritize sales goals over relationship building and client service, which I was not comfortable with.
