Pros

Nice people to work with. Great Senior Management High paying - they will pay high salaries for great talent ( negotiate) Easy access to senior management- small bank feel Very easy for high performers to really stand out.

Cons

WORST systems ever- it doesn't get any worst Major Staffing issues Very high turnover- chances are, if you're very good at what you do, you will soon be moving on. Horrible, lengthy, time consuming processes, very paper intensive Highly Excessive unnecessary emails Numerous non essential conference calls Lots of focus on tracking results and planning to plan than on actual execution Branch Managers have individual production goals just like their bankers and business bankers . The goals are less than the bankers but you're still essentially a banker as well as a manager. Back office retail support is untrained and un knowledgeable. They provide different answers every time you call in and provide incorrect information, which you then provide to customers resulting in major service breaks, time and time again. Processes are very cumbersome and convoluted Overall culture significantly lacks company pride Only 6 weeks of Maternity leave No discretionary annual bonus for the retail bank even when the company performs very well. The branch facilities are not adequately/ routinely maintained. Only after something breaks is it fixed. Even then the fixes are cheap and nothing is ever replaced. Not able to attract sophisticated clients due to service and system limitations

Pros

Of all the companies I have worked for, Santander has had the strongest training program. The training was comprehensive, well-structured, and especially valuable for employees who are new to the banking industry. Additionally, Santander's ONE software is by far the most intuitive and user friendly banking platform I have used, making it easy to learn and navigate while supporting efficient daily operations.

Cons

Like most retail banking roles, there is a strong sales component. With fewer customers visiting branches due to online banking and ATMs, much of the day is spent making outbound calls to existing clients, trying to set appointments, and push products and services. While I understand the importance of sales in the industry, I personally felt there was significant pressure to prioritize sales goals over relationship building and client service, which I was not comfortable with.
