Pros

It was a great place to work until 2013, then workload greatly increased when Santander won the Chrysler account and the company was preparing to go public. Insurance benefits were better than most companies and they matched 401K. Working downtown was nice but the commute to get there and work schedule limited enjoyment of the location.

Cons

During the company changes in the Pros above, work life balance became nonexistent and Management style became bullying and an atmosphere of fear was the norm. Job roles changed to combine two different separate jobs into one. Thecompany was nicely diverse before with a balanced mix of American born men and women and people from other countries. Starting in 2013, American females were bullied and forced to transfer to another group, resign or be fired by unfair management. They were replaced by males from India, Pakistani and Other countries in that region of the world. Out of 12 people in that group, half were forced to leave the group and all were Americans mostly women. All now are males born in the eastern Asian countries around India. The bullying and racial profiling were reported to HR but little or nothing has changed since. The management bullied are still there and they also from India. The former CEO continually changed his mind on what priorities are which resulted in shelved work and trying to meet his expectations with new work with the original deadines for each 2 week iteration. In over three years working there, this company went from one of the best places I worked to the worst company I ever worked. I honestly suffered from PTSD after leaving. Best decision I made to leave.

Pros

Of all the companies I have worked for, Santander has had the strongest training program. The training was comprehensive, well-structured, and especially valuable for employees who are new to the banking industry. Additionally, Santander's ONE software is by far the most intuitive and user friendly banking platform I have used, making it easy to learn and navigate while supporting efficient daily operations.

Cons

Like most retail banking roles, there is a strong sales component. With fewer customers visiting branches due to online banking and ATMs, much of the day is spent making outbound calls to existing clients, trying to set appointments, and push products and services. While I understand the importance of sales in the industry, I personally felt there was significant pressure to prioritize sales goals over relationship building and client service, which I was not comfortable with.
