Pros
The chimps are amazing. The care for the chimps is top notch and continually improving. The team set up can be very helpful. Breaking the areas into separate teams helps allow for better communication and a better learning environment. Everyone loves the chimps and is working to make their lives in retirement the best they can be.
Cons
The management is very toxic. Often times problems are put on a scapegoat who are then punished. Management and other heads avoid taking responsibility, making it impossible for true improvement. This results in a hostile and unsafe environment where employees are too afraid to share their mistakes and fears. I loved my first team, but when miscommunication in upper management resulted in an unfavorable result with a chimp, our team was blamed and split up. Those actually responsible for the problem were never held responsible. The second team I was placed in had less noticeable drama, but our team leader talked negatively about other employees. She also purposely tried to get employees fired for things she didn't like from a personal stand point that didn't reflect their actual work. Again this bread an unhappy and unsafe work environment. I miss the chimps, but don't miss the constant anxiety I felt about ever making a mistake or saying anything to the wrong person.
