Pros

Schrödinger is filled with exceptionally bright, driven people—scientists, engineers, and domain experts who genuinely care about the mission. The company’s technology is cutting-edge, and if you’re passionate about computational chemistry or drug discovery, this is a place where you can work on problems that actually matter. There’s real alignment between the science and the software, and that synergy is rare. Compensation is competitive, especially if you factor in equity. Leadership is accessible compared to other companies of similar size, and you’re likely to get exposure to multiple aspects of the business if you take initiative.

Cons

It’s not a 9-to-5 place. Work-life balance can skew heavily toward work, especially in some departments. The culture is high-performance, which sometimes crosses into burnout territory. Some legacy systems and technical debt exist, especially in areas that haven’t been prioritized for modernization. Middle management can be hit or miss—some teams thrive, others suffer from micromanagement or lack of strategic clarity. DEI efforts have been slower than the industry average, and there’s still a perception of an “old guard” dominating key decision-making.

Pros

Cool/talented people, nice office, catered lunches, interesting product. The office would often host cool science-related events with people showing off their research.

Cons

Team didn't feel very much like a team, everyone kept to themselves and there's little in the way of collaboration, information sharing, and help. The team felt very cold and isolating (everyone sitting in the same room with headphones on the whole time) which was disappointing when walking around the office and seeing other teams talk, laugh, and make being in the office feel worthwhile. Onboarding was minimal and fraught with issues (took forever to be given access to things, etc.), and with little documentation it was difficult to get started. Feedback felt inadequate. While teammates were nice and could be helpful, no one felt very approachable and it often felt like asking questions was a nuisance.
